Nachdem sich Bene zusammen mit DJ Hooray Anfang des Jahres um den aktuellen Sound im Hip Hop gekümmert hat (Just take 45s), wagt er nun wieder einen Blick zurück und arbeitet sich erneut an einem seiner Lieblingstracks und dessen Gebrauch im Hip Hop ab. Dieses Mal geht es dabei um Zapps „More Bounce To The Ounce“.

2009 war das zehnte Jahr nach dem tragischen Tod von Roger Troutman und seinem älteren Bruder Larry Troutman. Dieses Jahr sind es 30 Jahre seit der Veröffentlichung von „More Bounce To The Ounce“ bzw. dem ersten Zapp Album. Man kann also von einer Art Tribute- Mix sprechen.

Bei der Suche nach Tracks, die aus besagtem Stück samplen, wurde schnell deutlich, dass es eine Menge Ausschuss geben wird. Im weiteren Verlauf machte es auch Sinn sich stärker auf die Tracks von der West- und der Eastcoast zu konzentrieren, nicht um des alten Battles zwischen den beiden Küsten wegen, sondern aus rein stilistischen Gründen.
Entstanden sind schließlich zwei Mixes, eine West- und eine Eastcoast Version, hauptsächlich in chronologischer Reihenfolge und ausschließlich von Vinyl.

Das Ganze gibt es zum freien Download und in einer kleinen CD-R Auflage von je 50 Stück. Erhältlich über Benes Myspace-Seite und voraussichtlich in Kürze auch bei hhv.de.
