Affine Records - What A Fine Mess We Made

In knapp 1 Woche erscheint die Label Compilation von Affine Records “What a fine mess we made”. Ich habe sie schon seit 1 Woche dank meiner Connection zum Padrino persönlich und habe das Album im Grunde seit einer Woche permanent gehört(das Album und zwischendurch Dre Alben und God’s Son…aus irgendeinem Grund). Für mich der Labelcompilations eigentlich nicht mag, da auf jedem Label mindestens 3 sehr voneinander beeinflusst sind oder nicht alle gleich gut sind, ist es eins der besten Labelcompilations ever. Ich würde es auf einer Stufe mit Soundbombing II stellen, aber dann könnte man mir ja Lokalpatriotismus und Befangenheit vorwerfen…alles andere dessen bei mir der Fall ist. Aber die Compilation und das Gesamtwerk Affine Records spiegelt sich eben in den Beteiligten Personen wieder. Das Wunderbare an der Compilation ist einerseits, dass die Handschrift jedes einzelnen Protagonisten erkennbar ist. Wenn z.b. Ogris Debris einen Remix von einer Dorian Concept Nummer machen, dann klingt es eben so, wie ein Ogris Debris Remix von Dorian Concept klingen würde. Cid Rim klingt nach Cid Rim und nicht nach Dorian Concept und The Clonious klingt nach Clonious. Gemeinsam klingen sie dann wie Dukes, Kewell, Woodgate, Smith, Radebe, Mills, Ferdinand etc. coached by O’Leary….(wenn das jemand versteht, dann eh leiwand und wenn nicht, dann..ja…ihr versteht es eben nicht). Im Gegensatz bei zu vielen Glitch Hip Hop und sonstigen Sachen die abseits meines Hip Hop/Musik Spektrums, der mich interessiert, laufen, ist bei Affine Records alles direkt in die Fresse…aber auf eine sehr subtile und charmante Art. Ich habe bei den ersten dreimal hören kein einziges Mal auf Skip gedrückt, am iPod lief nix anderes. Daher, wenn das Werk dann nächste Woche für den Rest der Welt raus kommt, einfach kaufen, weil es wird heuer nicht viel mehr besseres kommen. Was alle Beteiligten bei Affine Records machen, ist höchst wichtig für Musik aus Wien(was Affine Records macht und was mein Mann Brenk macht…wenn Premo Brenk Shout Outs gibt auf Twitter, dann lacht das Herz…auch wenn ihn manche Berliner noch nicht kennen…aber der Berliner ist eh scheissegal) und viel wichtiger, nach all den Jahren wo Musik aus Wien alle Clichés wegen Gemütlichkeit, Fiaker usw. bestätigt hat, kommt jetzt eben eine andere Musik aus Wien, die eher weniger den Clichés entspricht, sondern eben dem Weltbild entspricht, den eine Gruppe an Leuten als seines hat….in your face, but with a wink and a smile.

We have friends all over the world. Oliver is one of them. When he comes to Glasgow we pack out the club for him, turn out the lights and turn him up. He wakes up in the park when he stays here, drinking late with Joe beside the picnic benches and apple blossom in Kelvingrove. Hell, when he played Sonar I think we filled rows two and three with Glasgow folks going nuts. So know this: when we asked Dorian Concept to come stay with us over New Years Eve, to play our sold out party at Stereo with Numbers, and provide a soundtrack to the year ahead in the form of this here mixtape, we didn’t take it lightly. From an old italo - us science fiction movie, Buzz seperated audio and video samples in order to give the movie as well as the music a new look and feel.
The result is a future classic, if by now you still don´t know what we´re talking about, have a look at the first video edit and single release “Stardust“, featuring Detroit´s finest Frank Nitty & viennese future funk expert Dorian Concept.

Guess what happens, if Captain Future hooks up with Hexstatic, Madlib and Dj Shadow for a drink at the next pub? Perry Rodan records in writing for that extra trash factor, and Terry Gilliam adds up some cinematographic finishing? This clash in time, space and style seems self evident.
Vienna based producer Dj Buzz managed to turn this rather fictional and fantastic meeting into a brilliant journey in sound and vision. A multimedia remix voyage per excellence.
Buzz took original samples from an old US- italo science fiction movie, joining the soundscapes and movieflics to a simply outstanding masterpiece entitled “Cosmic War Of The Planets”. On record as on stage, this rumpus features viennese future funk expert Dorian Concept, the musician & producer duo “Twintowas” and Dj Chris Fader, as well as Detroit´s finest Frank Nitty on the 7″ release “Stardust“. The viennese design studio „Ichiban” takes credits for editing the videos plus the Dvd, that comes along with the lovely designed LP (artwork by franke).
